The Fullness of His Grace ~ Word-Filled Wednesday

If the only blessing He were to give me was His grace, then that would be more than I deserve. And yet, He has blessed me with so much more. Thank you Lord, for the abundance of blessings you’ve given me, day after day, Amen

Stay the Course ~ Word-Filled Wednesday

This is my contribution to the meme Word-Filled Wednesday. For more beautiful pictures with inspiring Scripture, please visit The 160 Acre Woods, home of WFW.

For my first WFW of 2009, I decided to focus on the Scripture picture I created for my 2009 theme. This is my focus for the year, to Stay the Course, Look Forward, Press On and Receive the Prize. To persevere in my writing and in my struggles. I know that I can cross the finish line victoriously, if I just keep my eyes on the prize and stay close to Him.

Thank you, God, for the gift of Your Son, sent for us over 2000 years ago. May we never forget the cost.

Thank you, Jesus, for the gift of Your life, spent and spilled for us nearly 2000 years ago. May we never forget the sacrifice.

Thank you, wonderful readers, for the gift of your time, words and encouragement to me. I pray that the Lord will bless you abundantly for your giving. May I never take you for granted.

Merry Christmas, Everyone!

For God So Loved ~ WFW

This is my contribution to the meme Word-Filled Wednesday. For more beautiful pictures with inspiring Scripture, please visit The 160 Acre Woods, home of WFW.

The Christmas Season is about giving. It exists because God gave. We celebrate it because we celebrate Him and we follow His example by giving to others. It doesn’t have to be a pretty package, but it can be. It can also be a smile, a compliment, a kindness, a dinner invitation, a phone call or a little extra grace and mercy as we go about our day. God gave because He loved. What a better way to express our love for God, than by showing and sharing His love to others. Merry Christmas!

More Blessed to Give ~ Word-Filled Wednesday

This is my contribution to the meme Word-Filled Wednesday. For more beautiful pictures with inspiring Scripture, please visit The 160 Acre Woods, home of WFW.

The Season of Giving is upon us. It truly is the most wonderful time of the year – but not for everyone. Now, I think more than ever, we must be mindful to give – a smile, a compliment, a kindness, a dinner invitation, a phone call, whatever is necessary to fulfill a need. So many people are hurting right now and this time especially, we should find a need and fill it, find a hurt and heal it. That’s what God did for us…

The Joy of the Lord ~ Word-Filled Wednesday

This is my contribution to the meme Word-Filled Wednesday. For more beautiful pictures with inspiring Scripture, please visit The 160 Acre Woods, home of WFW.

I really love this Scripture and it has proven to be true in my own life many times. People sometimes believe that happiness and joy are the same thing, but they are not. Happiness is a feeling that develops through external circumstances, but circumstances change frequently because life happens, and the happiness that we experience is fleeting. Joy on the other hand, is more of an internal thing that is deep within you and it does not ebb and flow based on the circumstances we face. And it does strengthen us and helps us to get through the times that are difficult, trying or stressful. Like what I'm going through with NaNoWriMo! :-) How’s your joy today?

His Ways Are NOT Our Ways ~ Word-Filled Wednesday

I, along with many of you I'm sure, was disappointed at the outcome of the election. But as I sat there watching, stunned, with tears falling, God brought this Scripture to my mind. And He reminded me that He is still God, He is still in control, He still has a plan, and He is still on the throne! I knew I did what was required of me, by casting my vote according to my convictions, so in that regard, I did my job well. At this point, my new job is simply to trust God and pray for President-Elect Obama. And that is what I intend to do. Won't you join me?

Delight Yourself in the Lord ~ WFW

This is my contribution to the meme Word-Filled Wednesday. For more beautiful pictures with inspiring Scripture, please visit The 160 Acre Woods, home of WFW.

Isn’t this a comforting verse? When we choose to be in fellowship with the Lord, and love Him with all our heart, He gives us our deepest desires. Why is that? I believe it’s because when we’re close to Him, like a child in her Father’s lap, He places those desires within us. Then our desires are in line with His will for us. Even if it takes a long time to come to pass. Even if it doesn’t look exactly like what we think it should. He always has the best for us, and we should always trust Him to know what is best.

I really love this Scripture. No matter how satan tries to twist the truth of God’s character, the truth rings out to His children. Join me today in basking in the love of our Father – and let’s pass some of that love on to others. Blessings, my friends!

Fight Poverty ~ Word-Filled Wednesday

This is a dual-purpose post. This is my contribution to the meme Word-Filled Wednesday. For more beautiful pictures with inspiring Scripture, please visit The 160 Acre Woods, home of WFW.

Also, it is my contribution to Blog Action Day 2008 – Poverty. The website says this: On October 15th bloggers everywhere will publish posts that discuss poverty in some way. By all posting on the same day we aim to change the conversation that day, to raise awareness, start a global discussion and add momentum to an important cause. Every blogger has a unique voice, audience and perspective. By speaking to their readers on topic about an important issue we can discuss global issues like poverty in a new and hugely multi-faceted way. And from discussion springs action.

Poverty is a world-wide plague. It is sad, devastating, overwhelming and can seem pretty hopeless. In poverty stricken areas there is an abundance of lack – lack of food, lack of clean water, lack of medical supplies or treatment, lack of simple tools that could bring enormous benefit, lack of proper clothing or shoes, and a lack of hygiene that could truly create a better quality of life. But the good news is that it’s not hopeless! No one can do everything, but everyone can do something.

There are so many good and trustworthy organizations available which exist to help in these situations. All one has to do, is choose the organization they would like to be affiliated with and then do something. It doesn’t matter if it is personal donations, fund-raisers, or going on a mission trip, we all can do something. Here is a small and simple list of organizations that I’m aware of, just off the top of my head. I know there are more. My list:

~ Compassion International
~ Food for the Hungry
~ Habitat for Humanity
~ Samaritan’s Purse
~ World Vision
~ Dream Center (This link is for the original DC, located in Los Angeles, but there are locations throughout the US.)

We’ve given to World Vision for several years through the sponsorship of a child. I can’t even begin tell you how good it feels to know that we’ve made a real difference in the life of a child. I believe it’s God’s heart that we help those in need. And no matter how much we give, we can’t out-give God. He blesses and rewards us for our faithfulness. Won’t you prayerfully consider doing the something that you can do? Just imagine how much better the world would be, if we all would just find a need and fill it and find a hurt and heal it!

“Give freely and become more wealthy; be stingy and lose everything. The generous will prosper; those who refresh others will themselves be refreshed”. ~ Prov. 11:24-25

“Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you." ~ Luke 6:38

A Dream Fulfilled ~ Word-Filled Wednesday

This is my contribution to the meme Word-Filled Wednesday. For more beautiful pictures with inspiring Scripture, please visit The 160 Acre Woods, home of WFW.

Have you ever had a dream that you held on to for what seems like forever? It can get to a point where it seems like it will never come true, and the loss can crush your spirit. And some dreams never do come true. How about the opposite? Have you ever had a dream that you’ve held on to and worked for, that finally did come true? Do you remember the elation it gave you? A dream that comes true propels you forward with a thrust of energy and life that few other things can compare to.

I’ve had both dreams that haven’t come true and dreams that have. In my life, I think the difference is simply aligning my dreams and desires for my life with the will of God and His purpose for my life. He created me for a specific purpose and designed certain traits, talents and characteristics to help me achieve that purpose. If the dream comes from Him, and I’m in agreement with, nothing can prevent it from coming true.

Don’t stop dreaming and don’t stop believing. Remember Mark 10:27 “All things are possible with God” and Psalm 37:4 “Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart.”

Children of God ~ Word-Filled Wednesday

I am so grateful to have been welcomed into the family of God. The love He has for us is astounding. Because of Him, I am a daughter of the King, an heir of God and joint heir with Christ. Because of Him, I am righteous and holy. Because of Him, I live. Hallelujah!

As Far As the East is From the West ~ Word-Filled Wednesday

This is my contribution to the meme Word-Filled Wednesday. For more beautiful pictures with inspiring Scripture, please visit The 160 Acre Woods, home of WFW.

I am so grateful that God, in His most amazing grace, does forgive us and welcome us into the shadow of His wings, when we turn from our sins and humbly come to Him with a repentant heart. Sometimes I think we have a more difficult time forgiving ourselves, but it is important that we do so. If we don’t forgive ourselves when we’ve done something wrong, but God has forgiven us, it’s like we’re elevating our forgiveness above His. In order to have the abundant life and freedom in Christ that He has for us, we must release any unforgiveness we may be holding, whether it is against someone else or ourselves.

A Good Work ~ Word-Filled Wednesday

I don’t know about you, but I find this Scripture to be particularly comforting. If we are only willing, He will continue to work on us, ever increasing the good within us, while helping us put to death the evil nature that is our flesh. When I read it, I am reminded that though I’m not as far along as I’d like to be, I have made significant progress in becoming the person He created me to be. Thank you Lord!

Cry Out to God ~ Word Filled Wednesday

This is my contribution to the meme Word-Filled Wednesday. For more beautiful pictures with inspiring Scripture, please visit the 160 Acre Wood, home of WFW.

It really connects with my post yesterday. No matter what the storm in my life is, I know God has a purpose and plan specific for me that will be fulfilled in His timing, not mine. Sometimes His plans and mine line up, sometimes they don’t, but regardless I trust in Him. I cry out to Him in my time of need and He is there for me. Always. Once again, I take comfort in the song “Held” by Natalie Grant.

Held
This is what it means to be held
How it feels, when the sacred is torn from your life
And you survive
This is what it is to be loved and to know
That the promise was that when everything fell
We'd be held

Charm is Deceiving ~ Word-Filled Wednesday

I used to try to avoid “that woman” – you know the perfect one from Proverbs 31. Now though, as I’ve gotten older and (hopefully) wiser, I find myself being drawn to her more and more. Thank you Lord, for showing me the wisdom she offers by example, and the Grace to cover me when I fail. Amen
