Wasilla Bible Church

I’m sure most of you have heard that Sarah Palin’s home church in Wasilla, AK was seriously damaged by arson recently and has suffered $1 million in damage. The event itself is very sad, but for me, what’s even worse is the fact that I’m not at all surprised by this cowardly act. In case anyone is interested in supporting this church during their time of need, you can make donations to:

1. Please make your check payable to: Wasilla Bible Church

Take a Stand

I just received this in an email.

Here's your chance to let the media know where the people stand on our faith in God, as a nation. NBC is taking a poll on "In God We Trust" to stay on our American currency. Please send this to every Christian you know so they can vote on this important subject. Please do it right away, before NBC takes this off the web page. Poll is still open so you can vote.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/10103521/

I'll bet this was a surprise to NBC. Let's all take a stand and show our belief. I for one am tired of the loud few, trying to take away everything we believe and stand for.

Super-Sarah Saturday #7

Well, here we are, at the last Super-Sarah Saturday before the election. It’s almost hard to believe that it’s finally here – the election, I mean. I believe this is the most crucial election our Nation has seen in a very long time. Since Sarah Palin was announced as John McCain’s running mate, she and her family have overcome an onslaught of hateful and vicious attacks, not by the candidates on the other side, but by the supporters of the candidates on the other side. She, and her family, have held it together, and have exhibited class the whole way through. As this journey has progressed, she has impressed me more and more. No matter what happens next week, I believe we will see much more of this lady in the future. So, without further adieu, I give you these final illustrations. (BTW, I probably should have posted these first because they relate to the Republican National Convention – oops!)

To Choose Life In Politics

“This day I call heaven and earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live.” ~ Deut. 30:19

Previously we’ve discussed the importance of Choosing Life in our thoughts, words and actions. (If you’ve missed any of those and want to catch up, please click here. ) For this next installment of my Choose Life Series, I am focusing on choosing life in our politics. Obviously, Tis the Season for that! Anybody who knows me, knows that I am fairly political. If you like titles, I guess I could be called an Evangelical Christian, Conservative, Reaganesque Republican.

How do we Choose Life in politics? By getting involved! By knowing the issues! By donating our time, our knowledge or our money! By voting! We must consider the character of God and what He would want, and then align ourselves with His will. And we must pray – for the leaders, for the nation, for Godly representatives who have honor and integrity. Doing any of these things is an act of Choosing Life in politics.

For far too long, the majority of Christians have avoided politics, and as such, we have turned our great Nation over to the enemy. No wonder it is in the state it’s in! We see the results of our inaction in the 50 million+ babies that have been killed through abortion, we see it in the failing and often times violent school system, we see it in violent crime and drug use that continues to climb, and we see it in the sexual immorality (of all types) that is running rampant through our society.

By and large, it seems that Christians have chosen death politically. Sure, lots of us have voted, but have we made an effort to know exactly what the issues are? Have we gotten the word out. Have we humbled ourselves, dropped to our knees and prayed? Any time spent in 1 & 2 Kings and 1 & 2 Chronicles will quickly show that when the King (government) was right with God, things went well for the country. But when the King (government) was not right with God, things were disastrous for the country.

There are serious, life, and country, altering issues at stake. Some relating to life itself. Anything to do with abortion – early term, late term, partial-birth, the Infant Born Alive Act (which is related to giving or withholding medical care to a baby that has survived a botched abortion). There are issues at stake for protecting the sanctity of marriage, for protection from having to pushing the homosexual agenda and for education for our children. There are issues about gun rights – the right to bear arms, which is guaranteed by the 2nd Amendment. There are issues about the safety of our Nation and the economy. How can we vote on these issues if we don’t know what they are?

Whether the liberals like it or not, America was formed by Christians. The Bible was used for forming the Constitution. And we have thrived as a prosperous and free nation, because Jesus was the cornerstone and God has allowed us to. The United States of America has been a beacon of light and hope for oppressed people around the world because of God and Christians, and the only way it will remain so is through God and Christians. A key part to this is “and Christians.” See, God is all powerful, He is our Protector and our Provider, but He is not a dictator, sugar-daddy or some kind of genie in a bottle. He is the Living God, King of kings and Lord of lords! He desires to take care of us, but we must allow Him to. We must pray for Him to. We must continue to repent and intercede on behalf of those in our Nation, who are turning their backs to Him.

There are limited ways we can turn America back to God. Yes, we must preach the Word and be a witness for Him. But it is urgent that we appeal to Him through prayer be diligent about knowing the Candidates and issues that are represented in an election. Even if that means doing some research and even if it means (heaven forbid!) turning off the TV to do that research and spend some time in prayer. I believe that we as Christians will be held accountable for any votes we cast that are contrary to the Character of God. He will not turn a blind eye to a vote for a bill or candidate that supports abortion, sexual immorality or any other type of blatant sin that is a "lifestyle".

Please, I beg of you, Choose Life on Election Day. If you Choose Life in your politics, you are Choosing Life for your Nation, you are Choosing Life for your fellow citizens and you are Choosing Life for your children and their future.

~~~
“I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them. Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity.” ~ 1 Tim 2:1-2
“Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land.” ~ 2 Chr. 7:14
The following are quotes from our Founding Fathers:
Providence has given to our people the choice of their rulers, and it is the duty as well as the privilege and interest of our Christian nation to select and prefer Christians for their rulers ~ John Jay
In the chain of human events, the birthday of the nation is indissolubly linked with the birthday of the Savior. The Declaration of Independence laid the cornerstone of human government upon the first precepts of Christianity. John Quincy Adams
Righteousness alone can exalt America as a nation. Whoever thou art, remember this; and in thy sphere practice virtue thyself, and encourage it in others. ~ Patrick Henry
The practice of morality being necessary for the well being of society, He [God] has taken care to impress its precepts so indelibly on our hearts that they shall not be effaced by the subtleties of our brain. We all agree in the obligation of the moral principles of Jesus and nowhere will they be found delivered in greater purity than in His discourses. ~ Thomas Jefferson
I do not believe that the Constitution was the offspring of inspiration, but I am as satisfied that it is as much the work of a Divine Providence as any of the miracles recorded in the Old and New Testament. ~ Benjamin Rush
The great enemy of the salvation of man, in my opinion, never invented a more effective means of limiting Christianity from the world than by persuading mankind that it was improper to read the Bible at schools. ~ Benjamin Rush
While we are zealously performing the duties of good citizens and soldiers, we certainly ought not to be inattentive to the higher duties of religion. To the distinguished character of Patriot, it should be our highest glory to add the more distinguished character of Christian. ~ George Washington
The Christian religion – its general principles – must ever be regarded among us as the foundation of civil society. ~ Daniel Webster
The religion which has introduced civil liberty is the religion of Christ and His apostles… This is genuine Christianity and to this we owe our free constitutions of government. ~ Noah Webster
The moral principles and precepts found in the Scriptures ought to form the basis of all our civil constitutions and laws. ~ Noah Webster
The Christian religion is the most important and one of the first things in which all children under a free government ought to be instructed. No truth is more evident than that the Christian religion must be the basis of any government intended to secure the rights and privileges of a free people. ~ Noah Webster
We Are Related, We're American
I just saw this photo on Michelle Malkin’s blog, and I had to share it with you. I LOVE IT! Seriously, when I saw it, my heart became swollen with pride and affection for this “other” Joe the Plumber. It was taken at a Palin rally in Fredericksburg, VA. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
And just in case you can't read the sign, it says, "Hello, my name is Joe the Plumber, and yes we are related, we're AMERICAN!" And you know what? He's right!
Urgent Election Prayer Request
This urgent prayer request was sent to me from a friend via email. The originator of this prayer request is Pastor, Author, Speaker Dutch Sheets. I have not made any changes to it. This election is CRUCIAL. Please read it and PLEASE PRAY!
October 20, 2008
Dear Praying Friend,
In 2000, I wrote the 2nd most important letter of my life - a call to prayer for the elections of that year. I'm now writing what may be my most important letter. I knew the importance of those elections in 2000 was beyond any in my life up to that point and that the spiritual warfare surrounding them would be unlike anything any of us had ever seen. That letter was read by millions of people and I believe millions of them responded by praying. I also believe the prayers turned the tide.
You may question whether President Bush was the right choice; obviously, he has made some blunders in his tenure as president. But two of his decisions alone left no doubt he was God's choice: Roberts and Alito. These two Supreme Court Justices have proven critical in the process of breaking the hold of humanism, death and anti-God agendas that have ruled the Court for 50 years. I assure you that more devastation - the shedding of innocent blood, immorality, decay of the family and an erosion of our godly heritage - has flowed into our nation through that institution than any other door in America . Many times more. The poison allowed into America through their decisions is beyond any of our abilities to articulate. The reality in America is that you don't need to control Congress or the White House to rule the nation. You only need 5 people - 5 out of 9 on the Supreme Court. And for decades those who disagree with just about everything you and I stand for have been in control!
In Bush's two terms, the process of turning this around began with the appointments of Roberts and Alito. Now, we win some cases 5-4 and lose some 4-5. (We barely outlawed partial birth abortion. The vote of one judge saved thousands of babies from this horror.) We need one more conservative Justice for a consistent majority, then more to build a strong majority.
In Obama's own words, "the next president will appoint at least one, perhaps two or more Supreme Court Justices." He's right. Almost certainly two or more older, liberal Justices are waiting until after the elections to retire, in hopes of Obama winning and appointing more liberals to replace them. And he certainly would. He voted against the confirmation of Roberts and Alito. So did Biden. And Biden led the fight against Justice Thomas several years back, another of the 4 solid conservatives. Make no mistake about it, the two of them do have a litmus test for Supreme Court Justices, and a major part of that test is Roe vs. Wade. McCain and Palin, on the other hand, both have very strong pro-life positions. This alone makes the choice for President simple. To vote for the 2nd and 3rd most liberal senators (Obama and Biden), both of whom are firmly and blatantly pro-abortion, would be unconscionable. Obama has actually said that if he wins, he would like his first action as president to be the signing of the Freedom of Choice Act, which would eliminate every other law against any aspect of abortion (partial birth abortion, parental notification, etc., etc.). And with a democratic majority in the House and Senate, pretty much any legislation he and Biden want to pass will be a slam-dunk. There are many other unrighteous positions they hold but this position alone makes the choice easy. If they win this election, it will set America back decades in the cause of life and the restoration we seek.
Just as many of you do, I too, want to see a first black President, but not Senator Obama. To allow that noble and godly desire, the economy or one's position on the war to trump this issue of life and death for the innocent unborn is simply wrong. The scriptures teach that if we choose first to exalt righteousness and turn from evil, God promises to heal our land (see Proverbs 14:34; 2 Chronicles 7:14). It is righteousness that exalts a nation, not wealth, prosperity or armies. If we will finish the process of removing the curses of death and anti-God laws off of America by electing a president that will continue to shift the Court, God will grace us with breakthrough in other areas such as the economy, the war against terrorism, etc. My faith is not in a person, and certainly not a political party, for the healing of America , but I know God's word and His ways well enough to know that our decisions do move Him to action or inaction.
Now to the heart of my reason for writing this letter (I realize I am "preaching to the choir" - most of you who know or listen to me are conservative enough to vote for McCain and Palin.) I have not written any appeals for prayer concerning this election because:
1) others have, and
2) I believe our movement has matured to the point that the prayer base of the Church is already praying.
But I now feel the need to raise my voice. I am appealing to you to pray for these elections the next two weeks like you've never prayed for any in the past. Faithfully. Passionately. Boldly. Ask God for His mercy and grace. We deserve His judgment for removing His influence and authority from our government, schools, homes and businesses; for the killing of 50 million babies; for leading the world in the consumption and exporting of pornography; for passing laws to reject His; etc. But mercy triumphs over judgment and in His wrath He remembers mercy. In 2000 we actually lost the popular vote and won the election - talk about grace! Please pray for this grace to be released again.
But I am also asking you for something more than normal prayer. For those of you who understand spiritual warfare, I am asking you to also include this aspect of prayer. There is no doubt that we have entered a Daniel 10 moment in time: "Then he said to me, 'Do not be afraid, Daniel, for from the first day that you set your heart on understanding this and on humbling yourself before your God, your words were heard, I have come in response to your words. But the prince of the kingdom of Persia was withstanding me for twenty-one days; then behold, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, for I had been left there with the kings of Persia'" (Daniel 10: 12-13 NAS). The spiritual warfare in this election is incredibly fierce, and just as it was in Daniel's day, is all about the restoration of a nation. And also like Daniel, we must keep praying until we win the battle in the heavens.
In August of this year I predicted that September would mark a shift in momentum for these elections. This happened with the appointment of Sarah Palin as the Vice Presidential nominee (who is a true Esther in our generation), but when the economy began its meltdown and the media ramped up their unprecedented attacks on Palin, that momentum wasn't sustained. But we can see it turn again if we approach this battle as the spiritual warfare it truly is and bind the evil forces involved (see Matthew 16:18-19). The reality is that this election can be the breakthrough we need to fully shift the Court (and ultimately our nation) or it will be an immeasurable setback that could take many years to reverse - if ever.
Please understand what I am saying: if we engage in this battle and do what I am asking - in mass - we will win; if we do not, we will lose. I, for one, don't intend to allow the latter. I am in Washington , D.C. now (October 20-22) with Lou Engle and a team of prayer leaders from around the nation to war for this election. Join us! Lose some sleep, miss some meals - pray! Pray like never before for these elections. And as you do, involve yourself not only in petitioning prayer but also in spiritual warfare. Use your God-given authority over the plans and strategies of satan's kingdom. Bind all witchcraft that is working to control the outcome, including occultic powers that are suppressing truth. Release Christ's Kingdom rule in every way the Holy Spirit leads you.
Don't be deceived and don't lose hope (if you have to, turn off the TV.) It is not too late to turn these elections. God is plenty powerful enough to do so. The real question is will we rise to the level of prayer and spiritual warfare necessary to release that power. And remember, we don't need a majority of Christians who are willing and able to do this - only a praying remnant. We can do it!
Here are some practical suggestions to consider:
1) Fast (a meal a day; a day a week; a Daniel fast; 3 days; 10 days; TV; etc.) and spend the time praying.
2) Agree in prayer with someone everyday for God's will to be done.
3) Form/participate in prayer groups regularly. Churches could pray everyday.
4) Take time in every gathering to pray. (Take 15 minutes in every service to pray for the elections. Turn an entire service to harp and bowl style intercession - worship and prayer combined.)
5) Join 2 or more on a conference call and pray for 15, 20, or 30 minutes.
6) Pray on the way to work (and on the way home).
7) Pray before you go to sleep.
8) Pray before church services.
9) Ask God to give you His strategy - He will!
In His grip,
Dutch Sheets
Due to IRS rules, this letter is from me personally and is not from any of the ministries I am associated with. (Also because of IRS rules, I cannot send it to my ministry database and therefore need your help in getting it out.) Do with it as you see fit, but my desire is that you forward it to as many praying friends as possible.
Super-Sarah Saturday #6
With only 10 days left to go until the election, things are pretty intense. Vote, please vote. There's so much at stake. I hope you enjoy these latest Sarah-inspired illustrations!
BTW, as you have probably been able to determine, I am a big fan of Sarah Palin. Many Evangelical Christians, myself included, see her as a modern day Esther. I have recently discovered a great grass-roots organization to promote Sarah Palin. If you are a fan of hers, I encourage you to check out www.teamsarah.org. Blessings!
2008 Election Issues
The 2008 Presidential Election is now less than two weeks away. There has been much hype, drama, and controversy. There is much at stake and both sides are fighting tooth and nail to win. Julie at The Surrendered Scribe, has been giving a wonderful, fair and balanced, commentary on the week in politics for some time now, in her Weekly Roundup which posts on Thursdays. If you haven’t seen it, I encourage you to check them out.
Either way the election goes, history will be made – and either way the history that is made is good. Regarding Barack Obama, this is the first time we have a serious contender for the Presidency who is African American. Regarding John McCain, he would be the oldest first time President. Regarding Sarah Palin as Vice-President, we potentially see the highest position a woman has ever achieved in our politics. Any of these history making opportunities are good, but we must vote for the right candidate, not historical opportunity.
As an Evangelical Christian, Reaganesque-type, Conservative, Republican, my choice is clear. And my vote has been cast (through early voting mail-in ballot). My choice was made based on the issues that are so important at this time. I fear that many people don’t really understand the scope of issues we face and the fact that this election is not just for the next 4 years, but possibly the next 40 (with Suprem Court Judge seats at stake). It is urgent that we understand the issues and our responsibility as Americans to vote.
So what are the issues at stake? They are (this info was taken from WallBuilders):
~ Traditional Marriage at the Federal level and at the State level
~ Cloning
~ Judicial Activism
~ Homosexual Education, Gay Pride, and Pushing the Homosexual Agenda in Business and the Schools.
~ Energy
~ Human Life, including abortion, partial-birth abortion, youth abortion, and babies born alive after a botched abortion
~ Iraq/Afghanistan Wars and the War on Terror
~ Gun Rights
~ Parental Rights in Education
David Barton is the Founder and President of WallBuilders, a national pro-family organization. It is an organization dedicated to presenting America's forgotten history and heroes, with an emphasis on the moral, religious, and constitutional foundation on which America was built - a foundation which, in recent years, has been seriously attacked and undermined. In accord with what was so accurately stated by George Washington, we believe that "the propitious [favorable] smiles of heaven can never be expected on a nation which disregards the eternal rules of order and right which heaven itself has ordained." You can read more about WallBuilders and all they do by going to their website. It is a phenomenal organization!
As with all National Elections, WallBuilders provides accurate and important information regarding candidates and issues. They have provided a PDF document outlining the issues and where each of the Presidential candidates stand on these issues, as well as the documentation to back it up. If you are interested in this PDF document for yourself, or your church, please click here (this in no way jeopardizes a church’s 501c3 tax status).
It is up to us to make a difference, not only for ourselves, right now, but also for our children and the future. Thank you, God bless you, and God bless America!
Super-Sarah Saturday #5
With the last Presidential Debate behind us, we're winding down to the last couple of weeks until the Election takes place. Quite obviously, I'm a Conservative, Evangelical Christian, Republican and you can probably figure out how I'm casting my vote. However, I encourage all (who are legally able too - note to ACORN) to vote, regardless of party affiliation. It is a very important and precious right we have as Americans and beyond that, it is our responsibility too. Today I'm feeling bad for "Joe the Plumber", since it now appears that he has verbally cast his vote for John McCain and is under the attack scrutiny of the liberal left media. I encourage everyone to pray for God's direction in this election and for the safety of all Candidates and their families - and for "Joe the Plumber" too.
Super-Sarah Saturday #4
Saturday is once again upon us and the election is now less than a month away. Sarah and her family are continuing to take some hard hits by the liberals and the MSM, but she's handling herself well. Enjoy the illustrations and have a blessed weekend!
Super-Sarah Saturday #3
So, I watched the Vice-Presidential debate on Thursday night (who didn’t?) and I just have to say… SARAH ROCKED! Of course, that seems to depend on who you ask, but that's no surprise.
This latest installment of Super-Sarah Saturday is also my 99th blog post. Like many bloggers, I’m doing something special for my 100th blog post, which I’m currently working on and will post on Monday. Blessings and have a great weekend!
A New Preamble to the Constitution
I received this as an email awhile back and thought it was appropriate to post here and now, with the current economic and political situations. This is obviously written tongue in cheek, however more and more, it's becoming true. I freely admit that as an Evangelical Christian, Conservative Republican, this may be biased. I did not write it, but I do agree with it.
WARNING: This may be offensive to some, particularly liberals. Read with caution…
For those who don't know how it originally reads click here.
~~~

"We the sensible people of the United States, in an attempt to help everyone get along, restore some semblance of justice, avoid more riots, keep our nation safe, promote positive behavior, and secure the blessings of debt-free liberty to ourselves and our great-great-great-grandchildren, hereby try one more time to ordain and establish some common sense guidelines for the terminally whiny, guilt-ridden, delusional, and other liberal bed-wetters. We hold these truths to be self evident: that a whole lot of people are confused by the Bill of Rights and are so dim they require a Bill of NON-Rights."

ARTICLE I: You do not have the right to a new car, big screen TV, or any other form of wealth. More power to you if you can legally acquire them, but no one is guaranteeing anything.

ARTICLE II: You do not have the right to never be offended. This country is based on freedom, and that means freedom for everyone -- not just you! You may leave the room, turn the channel, express a different opinion, etc.; but the world is full of idiots, and probably always will be.

ARTICLE III: You do not have the right to be free from harm. If you stick a screwdriver in your eye, learn to be more careful, do not expect the tool manufacturer to make you and all your relatives independently wealthy.

ARTICLE IV: You do not have the right to free food and housing. Americans are the most charitable people to be found, and will gladly help anyone in need, but we are quickly growing weary of subsidizing generation after generation of professional couch potatoes who achieve nothing more than the creation of another generation of professional couch potatoes.

ARTICLE V: You do not have the right to free health care. That would be nice, but from the looks of public housing, we're just not interested in public health care.

ARTICLE VI: You do not have the right to physically harm other people. If you kidnap, rape, intentionally maim, or kill someone, don't be surprised if the rest of us want to see you fry in the electric chair.

ARTICLE VII: You do not have the right to the possessions of others. If you rob, cheat, or coerce away the goods or services of other citizens, don't be surprised if the rest of us get together and lock you away in a place where you still won't have the right to a big screen color TV or a life of leisure.

ARTICLE VIII: You do not have the right to a job. All of us sure want you to have a job, and will gladly help you along in hard times, but we expect you to take advantage of the opportunities of education and vocational training laid before you to make yourself useful.

ARTICLE IX: You do not have the right to happiness. Being an American means that you have the right to PURSUE happiness, which by the way, is a lot easier if you are unencumbered by an over abundance of idiotic laws created by those of you who were confused by the Bill of Rights.

ARTICLE X: This is an English speaking country. We don't care where you are from, English is our language. Learn it or go back to wherever you came from! (lastly....)

ARTICLE XI: You do not have the right to change our country's history or heritage. This country was founded on the belief in one true God. And yet, you are given the freedom to believe in any religion, any faith, or no faith at all; with no fear of persecution. The phrase IN GOD WE TRUST is part of our heritage and history, and if you are uncomfortable with it, TOUGH!!!!

~~~
I just think it's about time common sense is allowed to flourish. Sensible people of the United States speak out because if you do not, who will?
Super-Sarah Saturday #2
It’s Saturday once again! And that means it’s time for another Super-Sarah Saturday post, with illustration of Republican Vice-Presidential nominee Sarah Palin. Whether you like her or not, it’s hard to deny the impact she’s had in this election. Go Sarah!
Super-Sarah Saturday 1
As most would probably guess, I am an ardent conservative, Republican patriot and as such, I am absolutely delighted with John McCain's pick for his Vice-Presidential running-mate, Sarah Palin. She is a breath of fresh air in the world of American politics. Recently a friend sent me an email containing several pictures depicting Super-Sarah, and I'll be sharing them all in the coming weeks. I enjoyed them very much and hope you do too. Enjoy!
Cindy McCain for First Lady
I was reading a thread in a Christian forum today (on FaithWriters) regarding the upcoming Presidential election. I was shocked at a certain girl’s extremely mean-spirited and ill-informed opinions. One of the nasty things she had to say about John McCain (along with that he is an atheist, which he definitely is not and other such things) is this, “McCain cheated on his wife [my note: meaning ex-wife and btw, ex-wife is promoting and presumably voting for John] and asked her for a divorce so he can marry a barbie doll. (my source came from wikipedia if anyone is interested)”. Needless to say, this incensed me greatly and I found I had to respond. The following was my response.
As a person from Phoenix, I can assure you I am proud of and admire this “Barbie doll” very much. It would be great if the rest of us would put our money, and our actions, where our mouths are. Yes, she is an heiress, but her father grew up poor, worked hard and created his wealth. He too was a war hero, serving in WWII and being shot down multiple times. It seems as though the McCain family actually lives the Scripture Luke 12:48, “To whom much is given, much is expected.” Yes this post is very long, but informative should you choose to read it. This info was verified through Snopes.
~~~

There was an article recently in the Wall Street Journal on Cindy McCain, John’s wife. Most people only ever see an attractive woman standing beside John. It may be surprising to them how talented and involved with world problems she is. This is a summary of that article. She graduated from Southern Cal and was a special-needs teacher.

After her Dad died she became involved with his beer distributing firm and is now the chairwoman. Sales have doubled since she has taken over from her father.

They have a marriage prenuptial agreement, her assets remain separate.

She is involved around the world clearing land mines – travels to these countries on a detonation team and serves on their board.

They have a 19 year old son serving in Iraq, and another son in the Naval Academy, a daughter recently graduated from Columbia University, an adopted daughter in high school, and a son who is the finance guy at the beer firm.

They raised their kids in Phoenix, rather than D.C and he commuted.

In 1991, Mrs. McCain came across a girl in an orphanage in Bangladesh. Mother Teresa implored Mrs. McCain to take the baby with a severe cleft palate. She did so without first telling her husband. The couple adopted the girl who has had a dozen operations to repair her cleft palate and other medical problems.

They have a Family Foundation for children’s causes.

She’s active with “Halo Trust” – to clear land mines, provide water and food in war ravaged and developing countries.

She will join an overseas mission of “Operation Smile”, a charity for corrective surgery on children’s faces. She has had two back surgeries and became addicted to pain killers. She talks openly about it which she says is part of the recovery process.

Personally, I’m not surprised the media is so quiet about her attributes. They have tried to discredit John McCain because of his wife’s wealth. It looks as if she knows how to put money and time to use in many good causes. What a novel thought to have such a fine person as the “First Spouse”. She sounds more capable than Hillary or Obama. If John McCain gets elected, we would really get two for the price of one. A person with business and international experience.

Further…

Election 2008: Cindy Hensley McCain has been disparaged as a trophy wife, a Barbie, an heiress with fancy purses, even the Paris Hilton of politics. But there's more to the picture than meets the eye.

Yes, Mrs. McCain is the perfectly coifed blonde standing dutifully behind the senator during his speeches. And yes, she wears stylish clothing and carries a Prada purse. And it's true she doesn't say much. But feminist critics who write her off as a 'stand-by-your-man' shrinking violet are selling her short. In many ways, Cindy McCain stacks up sturdier than Hillary Clinton or Michelle Obama. And she'd make a more impressive first lady.

Mrs. McCain: More than meets the eye.

While Obama's wife has been hating America, complaining about the war and undermining our troops serving in Afghanistan, McCain's wife has been worrying about her sons who actually are fighting or planning to fight in the war on terror. One, in fact, was until a few months ago deployed in Iraq during some of the worst violence.

You don't hear the McCain's talk about it, but their 19-year-old Marine, Jimmy, is preparing for his second tour of duty. Their 21-year-old son, Jack, is poised to graduate from Annapolis and also could join the Marines as a second lieutenant. The couple made the decision not to draw attention to their sons out of respect for other families with sons and daughters in harm's way.

Cindy also says she doesn't want to risk falling apart on the campaign trail talking about Jimmy who was so young when he enlisted she had to sign consent forms for his medical tests before he could report for duty and potentially upsetting parents of soldiers who are serving or have been killed.

The McCain's want to make sure their boys get no special treatment. Same goes for their five other children, including a daughter they adopted from Bangladesh . During a visit to Mother Teresa's orphanage there, Cindy noticed a dying baby. The orphanage could not provide the medical care needed to save her life. So she brought the child home to America for the surgery she desperately needed. The baby is now their healthy, 16-year-old daughter, Bridget.

Though all seven McCain children including two Sen. McCain adopted from his first marriage are supportive of their father, they prefer their privacy to the glare of the campaign trail. Another daughter, Meghan, 23, helps him behind the scenes.

Cindy McCain not only cherishes her children, but also her country, which in an election year filled with America-bashing, is a refreshing novelty. She seethed when she heard Michelle Obama's unpatriotic remarks that she only recently grew proud of America . 'I am very proud of my country,' Mrs. McCain asserted.

She also may be tougher than the other women in the race. While Hillary thinks she's come under sniper fire on mission trips abroad, Cindy has actually seen violence. She witnessed a boy get blown up by a mine in Kuwait during a trip with an international group that removes land mines from war-torn countries.

Mrs. McCain also is a hands-on philanthropist. She sits on the board of Operation Smile, which arranges for plastic surgeons to fix cleft palates and other birth defects. She also has helped organize relief missions to Micronesia .

During a scuba-diving vacation to the islands, Mrs. McCain took a to a local hospital to have a cut treated. She was shocked, and saddened, by what she saw. 'They opened the door to the OR, where the supplies were, and there were two cats and a whole bunch of rats climbing out of the sterile supplies,' she recalled. 'They had no X-ray machine, no beds. To me, it was devastating because it was a U.S. trust territory.' As soon as she returned home, she arranged for medical equipment and teams of doctors to be sent to treat the island children.

Michelle Obama may contribute to CARE, which fights global poverty and works to empower poor women. Cindy sits on its board.

While the Democrat women talk about helping the poor and needy, Cindy McCain actually rolls up her sleeves and does it. Who's the out-of-touch elitist?

I'm No Tree-Hugger

I’m no tree-hugger. I roll my eyes at the hysteria of the environmentalist crusade. That said, I do recycle and try to save energy and natural resources simply because it is the right thing, the responsible thing, to do. I believe we are to be good stewards of the earth and its resources. However, this should not be something we lose our common sense over. Extremisms are always dangerous.

The most prominent cause du jour is global warming - especially with the Hollywood crowd. I simply don’t believe it. It is a scare tactic used by the liberal left to gain more power. If they can create fear, even to near hysteria, but offer a solution, they figure they can gain trust and consequently elections. Now I’m not saying the signs aren’t there, but I believe they point to something else. Everything is cyclical. Time and seasons and weather patterns are all cyclical. Looking back to the 1970’s, at that point in time, the media and extremists were crying “global cooling” and that we were heading into another ice age. It even made the cover of Newsweek in 1975! It didn’t happen. There is “evidence” back as far as the 1890’s that we have been going through cycles of global warming and cooling. Nothing globally catastrophic has happened, but hysteria sells.

Temps go up and they go down. Storm systems are wildly dangerous and they are relatively calm. Weather patterns are unpredictable and tumultuous and they are even predictable and moderate. There is flooding and there is drought. It’s called weather. Contrary to what Al Gore’s “An Inconvenient Truth” maintains, there is evidence that the earth has been in a cooling trend for the last few years. In fact, he even states that “the debate is over in the scientific community”, but obviously it’s not because over 19,000 scientists and climatologists publicly signed a petition stating they do NOT agree. (For more info see http://www.globalwarmingisafarce.com/)

There is big money to be made in the new push to make everything “green”. From hybrid cars to solar energy to “earth friendly eco-bags” instead of plastic at the grocery store, and a myriad of other things, the push is definitely on. Again, I believe we have a responsibility to be good stewards of the wonderful earth God created, but I don’t believe we should make foolhardy choices out of fear. One of the biggest pushes right now involves an ordinary, everyday item that we all have multiples of inside our homes – light bulbs.

We all need light bulbs and we all use them throughout our homes. For the most part, we’ve been using the same type of bulb for home use, since bulbs were invented - incandescent. And it appears that they both cost more and use more energy in the long run. Naturally, there has been a strong push to start using the new compact fluorescent lamps. It makes sense since they are both energy and money saving. Or does it?

What is not widely reported is that these CFL bulbs are filled with poisonous mercury and are quite dangerous to people. So dangerous in fact, that they must be disposed of properly by using a specific type of recycling facility. There’s one problem – the type of recycling facility needed is very limited. They cannot be disposed of in the trash like incandescent bulbs because they could harm the trash collector, leak into the ground, air and water (obviously this is a danger to both the earth and society), and in quantity they could even kill landfill workers. And this is just for CFL bulbs that have burned out. What about if they break? Well, now you’re really in trouble. If a CFL bulb breaks, for your own protection, you have to hire an environmental cleanup company to come do it for you, at a cost of somewhere around way too stinking expensive. A woman in Maine experienced this first hand, when a bulb in her daughter’s room broke. She is now trying to save at least $2000 to have it cleaned up properly because the EPA has deemed it contaminated. And no, homeowners insurance doesn’t cover that. In the meantime, the room remains sealed off. (For more info see www.wnd.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=55213 )

So what are we to do? For me and my family, we intend to go on with our lives. We will continue to recycle what we can and do our best to use our natural resources wisely. We take the stewardship of the earth seriously, as God gave it to us and told us to take dominion over it. However, we will not be quick to jump on the fever-pitched, goin’ green bandwagon! And we will not willingly bring hazardous material in a fragile glass container into our home! But neither will we be wasteful, negligent or unaware of the fact that the earth’s resources are limited.

The earth is beautiful and precious and should be properly taken care of. It should be respected and protected as much as possible without us going crazy to do it (and making things worse). The earth is the Lord’s creation and it is good. Let’s join in together and do our part sensibly, while being mindful of the current obsession with being environmentally fanatical instead of being environmentally sensible. Don’t be led astray by the fear-mongering liberal left. Just think, use common sense and be responsible. God entrusted us with the earth, should we not be deemed trustworthy with it?

See Genesis 1 and 2 for the Creation story.

“You alone are the LORD. You made the heavens, even the highest heavens, and all their starry host, the earth and all that is on it, the seas and all that is in them. You give life to everything, and the multitudes of heaven worship you.” ~ Nehemiah 9:6

“Generations come and generations go, but the earth remains forever. The sun rises and the sun sets and hurries back to where it rises. The wind blows to the south and turns to the north; round and round it goes, ever returning on its course. All streams flow into the sea, yet the sea is never full. To the place the streams come from, there they return again.” ~ Ecclesiastes 1:4-7
